Studio Voltaire to reopen in October 2021 following completion of a transformative £2.8 million capital project with a William Scott survey exhibition and series of new permanent commissions by artists Anthea Hamilton and Joanne Tatham & Tom O’Sullivan.

Studio Voltaire opens with the first solo exhibition of William Scott (b.1964, San Francisco) outside of the USA – the first significant survey of his 30–year practice. While deeply rooted in personal history, Scott’s paintings address wider questions of citizenship, community and cultural memory.

His portraits, predominantly of black figures, encompass African American political leaders, celebrities and pop icons, but also document members of his church, family, and residents of his native San Francisco. Scott’s practice at large reimagines the social topography of this rapidly gentrified city in works that combine architectural design with science fiction.

Step 1 – 8 to 29 March

In Step 1, all children and students will be able to return to face-to-face education in schools and colleges from 8 March. Childcare and children’s supervised activities can also resume where necessary to enable parents to work or engage in similar activities. People will also be allowed to leave home for recreation and exercise outdoors with their household or support bubble, if they are eligible for one, or with one person from outside their household.

On 29 March outdoor gatherings (including in private gardens) of either 6 people (the Rule of 6) or 2 households will also be allowed, making it easier for friends and families to meet outside. Outdoor sports facilities such as tennis and basketball courts, and open-air swimming pools, will also be allowed to reopen, and people will be able to take part in formally organised outdoor sports.

New Santander docking stations

Clapham has now gained two new Santander docking stations stations.

Both located close to Clapham North and Clapham Common tube station these are a welcome addition to Clapham and it is hoped to encourage more businesses and their employees to use a form of zero emission transport and enable more people to take advantage of Clapham’s cycle superhighway and Quietway 5, which will runs through Clapham Common. You can hire bikes using London’s public cycle hire scheme, Santander Cycles.

There are more than 750 docking stations and 11,500 bikes to hire around London.

It costs £2 to access a Santander Cycles bike for 24 hours; the first 30 minutes of each journey are free.

For longer journeys, it costs an extra £2 for each additional 30 minutes.

Bikes can be hired using a bank card at the docking station, or using the official app.
